Electrostatic Multi-Layer Self Assembly

The movie (below) shows snapshots from a simulation of the Multi-Layer Self-Assembly of oppositely charged polyelectrolytes onto a discretely charged spherical particle. After each adsorption cycle, the rinsing step removes unadsorbed chains and the sphere along with the adsorbed chains is introduced into a cell containing oppositely charged polyelectrolytes. The chains are 32 monomer units long and each of the beads in individual chains bear a charge of either +1 or -1.
